5th SPANISH-AMERICAN MEETING OF SILVERSMITHS AND 1 MEETING OF COPPER GOLDSMITHS

From October 16 to 19, 2013, the Fifth Encounter of Silversmiths and Goldsmiths was held in Chile in the city of Rancagua, organized by our Association together with Pro O'Higgins and the Patronato de la Plata del Perú, who are the creators of these Meetings that have been taking place since 2001. The event brought together jewelers and goldsmiths from all over Latin America, who were part of this celebration that allowed us to get to know each other and delve into the role of Contemporary Latin American Jewelry, from ancestral techniques brought from the most traditional regions from our continent, to the most contemporary ones. The Meeting began on Wednesday, October 16 at the newly opened Regional Theater of Rancagua with the accreditation of the participants. In the evening, the opening ceremony was held, which included typical dances and the words of the various authorities, in which our president Pamela de la Fuente had the mission of telling and thanking the experience of these years and what the preparation of this event. Later came the toast and the official exhibition of silverware and jewelry was inaugurated. The following day, Thursday, October 17, the more than 350 attendees were transferred to the mythical mining city of Sewell, where the master conferences were held in the old English Hall of the city. On Friday, October 18, the attendees moved to the Coya Country Club where they could attend 4 master classes given by excellent exponents of contemporary and traditional jewelry. The last day, was the closing day, a loving town of Coya, went out to receive the illustrious visitors who were able to enjoy a field day full of camaraderie and emotions.
